Proteinuria

Proteinuria

Proteinuria can be plainly described as a disorder in which excess proteins are expelled during urination. Proteinuria can be caused by a variety of issues, but the most common are diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease. If left untreated, proteinuria caused by kidney disease may be life threatening.

The main job of the kidneys are to filter fluids in your body. If the kidneys are not functioning properly, they may not distribute protein back into your blood supply, causing weaker bones, muscles and fatigue.
